Kagiso ya Lefatshe (KyaL) Peace of Earth

About us

We are a group of committed individuals in pursuit of finding a harmonious and sustainable way to integrate with nature for the sake of future generations. Our project began in 1990 when Nelson Mandela was released from prison in the optimism of a new dawn for South Africa.

We have helped many displaced and homeless young people, many of whom are orphans, to learn skills and find vocations, from ecology and permaculture to building and computer technology.

We have an accumulated knowledge of ancient herbs and forest remedies which have been handed down over the generations by traditional healers. It is a skill and art that is being rapidly lost in the push for modernization.

We concentrate on ecological healing, with the propagation of wild fruit, indigenous trees and animal wildlife. We share our knowledge with town and city folk who have never seen the magnificent fruits of the wild that used to sustain ancient tribes before colonial settlers arrived.

We have mastered ancient rammed earth building techniques which require only local materials and have an extermely low energy profile and carbon footprint. We teach the skills to manufacture solar powered water heating units and computer repair technology.

We welcome input from all interested parties and look forward to hearing from you!

We will soon be providing accommodation for a hands on experience of living close to nature in a caring, ecologically integrated manner. For more information write to:
